I guess since there's 3 people in, ill make the fourth.

Well....
I'm sorry tonight was a bit of a bust. It seems as if there was mix up as who had a scheduled practice. Some how, someone told Larry that we would not be there so he went ahead and scheduled the Rage for a practice.
I have been assured that this will not happen again (unless we plan it ahead of time). Next week should be better.
Chris.
JBurns- 03-24-2005
Dont applogize, it wasnt your fault. No worries, im just glad we got the mixup taken care of before 51 is in large demand.
Dave- 03-24-2005
did you guys get to practice with rage?
DollaBil- 03-24-2005
nah they were holding try outs for their B squad.
we ran some non-shooting drills
madm@x- 03-24-2005
You must mean "unless we don't plan it ahead of time" Chris.
It's unlikely Toronto Rage will hold future practices at Area 51 on Wednesday nights.
I was hoping the DA's would scrimmage quick and dirty with the tryout boys... X-Ball style. Most of the games are 30 seconds or less... hours to run through drills yet all the scrimmages are done in 10-15 minutes. Hmmm...
I was also on the look out for good players to fill in the GT X-Ball squad... maybe pick-up a few DA's... Oops sorry Chris! I forgot how sensitive you are to losing your top players.

Yeah you guys def shoulda played with the xball boys, I love playing with the kingston criminals, the games are so quick and dirty. One time I found myself (and one other guy) playing against all 5 of the other team who were all at the 50, about 25-30 seconds into the game. Seeing 5 guys all at a different bunker along 50 is the most intimidating thing ever. But obviously that situation didnt last long.

'Ya, practice scrimmages would have good. If playing Kingston was interesting, Toronto's style would have been even better to watch (on or off the field). Kingston is currently in sixth place among the Ontario CXBL teams.

Good of you to join in the X-Ball practice today Jon. What did you think of the tryout and farm squad players? Our main squad players didn't show today. And any thoughts on the side line coaching?
JBurns- 03-25-2005
For the most part, seemed like a good bunch of kids. That was my first time playing xball, so i didnt really know what to expect (especially since I was only planing to take a couple of my buddies for a day of recball). It kinda seemed like the players were solely relying on the coaches and not eachother as far as communication was concerned, but like i said, i dont know much about Xball.
All in all it was alot of fun. If im not at school, i'll deffinatly drop in on some of your practices, if you dont mind, every once in a while.
madm@x- 03-26-2005
In a real match, the coach is only useful to the players near him i.e. the snake. There's too much noise for the other players to hear the coach. Communication is not critical to winning games. Communication between the players is just a bonus advantage, which is what Toronto's main squad's got (since most of those players are 10 and 7-man amateurs with NPPL and PSP experience).
X-Ball is individual player skill and aggression driven. Each round take anywhere from 10 to 30 seconds to wrap up, so by the time a player communicates something, the opportunity is gone... the round's over.
I think those 5 vs. 5 games yesterday were roughly 30 seconds each.
Later we practiced with 30 breaks - like during X-Ball matches. 30 second game then 30 second break to refill and load up - then 30 seconds of play - and over and over.
It's a real neat way of playing paintball.
